Auditions
There are no height or weight requirements for the team, and the previous year's team has to try out again each year.
Coquettes tryouts are at the end of October and are open to any 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade girl.
Charisma tryouts are in May during the previous school year and are open to any current 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th grade girl who will be attending Carmel High School the following year.
A panel of judges picks the teams based on scores. It is a three day tryout process. The first day, the girls learn a dance. The next day, the judges watch them perform and give them a score, and on third day, there is a call back based on score. That day, the girls learn a new, shorter dance and perform again for the judges. The judges score them again and rank them from the highest score to the lowest. A significant break in score is located, and the cut is made.
It is recommended that comfortable clothing be worn for tryouts, so that movement is not restricted.
The only cost is the uniform for the girls that make the team. The girls are required to buy dance shoes, pants, two performance tops for each team and a team t-shirt or sweatshirt depending on the season. The total cost varies, but usually it is around $200.
